September 16, 2019 - NOLA Public Schools is excited to launch our 2019-2020 Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council. Last year, the parents weighed in on major policies like transportation pick up times and geographic priority in enrollment, evaluated new charter applications, learned about how our unique system works and created recommendations for the Orleans Parish School Board.
This year’s group will include a mix of parents who served on the last year, new applicants, and schools with PTOs will have the opportunity to send a representative to serve on the council. Overall, the purpose of the council is to create a two-way communication between parents and the superintendent – where the Superintendent and his staff can receive feedback on their programs, initiatives, and policies and where parents can gather information about NOLA Public Schools and share with their peer parents at the various schools.
The deadline to apply is Friday, October 4, 2019. If your application is selected to advance, there will also be a short phone interview on October 7th-9th. All final council members will be notified after interviews on October 9, 2019 and the first meeting is OCTOBER 10, 2019.
To apply, you must be the parent or legal guardian of a child currently enrolled in NOLA Public Schools. To serve as a PTO representative, you must be selected by that school/PTO.
