Team working to refine the plan based on data and public input
The community update for NOLA Public Schools' Strategic Plan, scheduled for May 17, has been postponed until Wednesday, June 2 to give the planning team additional time to formulate a refined draft based on the collected data and public feedback.
We encourage members of the public and our school community to join us for this update.
WHEN:
Wednesday, June 2 • 5:30pm – 7:30pm
WHERE:
A link will be provided for the public to sign up for the virtual event, as we get closer to the meeting date.
WHY:
Last month, NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) launched a major strategic planning initiative to set the course for the District for the next four years. The goal is to capitalize on the lessons learned since reunification of schools three years ago and through our successful response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We're excited the community is engaged and providing their thoughts on a plan for the future of education in our city," said NOLA-PS Superintendent Dr. Henderson Lewis, Jr. "Ultimately, we want to grow a district that continues to care for all its students, no matter who they are or where they come from."
As a community of schools that values inclusivity, trust, respect, cultural awareness, and collective progress, the planning process will continue to be transparent and fully engaged with our schools, staff, students, and families to understand their needs and aspirations for public education in New Orleans.

Superintendent Lewis and his team will incorporate public feedback and propose a 4-year strategic plan later this summer to the Orleans Parish School Board for review. We expect to complete this process before the start of the 2021-2022 school year.
