NOLA-PS Mobile Vaccine Summer Drive: Just in Time for Mask-Free Learning

Fully vaccinated students, 12 and older, will not be required to wear masks inside school buildings.

(New Orleans – July 7, 2021) – Get the shot and go mask-free! That's the message NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) would like to send to students and their families, as they prepare to return for the 2021-2022 school year. It's just one of the many perks fully vaccinated students can look forward to, per the District's new COVID-19 guidelines, including the removal of quarantine requirements for those that are identified as close contacts.

To help provide easy access to the vaccine, NOLA-PS, in partnership with local health partners, will be continuing to offer its summer mobile vaccine drive to eligible students 12 and older during the following dates, locations, and times:

"There are six weeks until the start of the school year. That's plenty of time to get your vaccine and be fully vaccinated," said Superintendent Dr. Henderson Lewis, Jr. "So, I encourage families to visit one of our vaccine sites and take advantage of the opportunity. We know it will help keep your child safe and going maskless will help children feel a sense of normalcy, as they kick off the new school year."

NOLA-PS is proudly working with its community health partners to provide access to Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine for students 12 and older, with parental consent. CORE will also offer the Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccine to students who are 18.

Providing access to the vaccine to as many students and programs as possible over the summer is in line with the District's goal of keeping our community of schools safe. Ultimately, NOLA-PS is committed to helping protect the health and safety of our students and their families and help them feel more comfortable about returning to in-person learning in the fall.

To that end, NOLA-PS will continue to encourage its school community to participate in the mobile vaccination program.
