NEW ORLEANS – (Aug. 23, 2019) – This week, NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) hosted the third annual Citywide Summer Graduation Ceremony honoring Orleans Parish public school students who completed required coursework over the summer of 2019. Thirty-one seniors from eight schools took part in the graduation ceremony at New Orleans Jazz Market. NOLA-PS began summer graduation ceremonies in 2017 in an effort to ensure all graduates are celebrated with a ceremony regardless of when they finish classes.

“Congratulations to our summer 2019 graduates. They have worked to reach this moment and it’s an honor to see them earn their diplomas,” said NOLA-PS Superintendent of Schools Dr. Henderson Lewis, Jr. “I would like to acknowledge all the family members, teachers and staff who have supported these students along the way. Thank you for encouraging them to strive for greatness. I know these graduates will achieve incredible things in their future and will continue to work hard in the next chapter of their lives.”

Schools with participating graduates included Edna Karr High School, Abramson Sci Academy, McDonogh 35 High School, Eleanor McMain Secondary School, John F. Kennedy High School, Warren Easton Charter High School, L.B. Landry-O.P. Walker College and Career Preparatory High School and ReNEW Accelerated High School.
